How Cryotherapy Works

When receiving cryotherapy treatment, participants stand on an adjustable platform inside our octagonal-shaped chamber which ensures their head remains outside. A technician fills the Impact Cryotherapy chamber with nitrogen vapor, dropping the temperature of the chamber between -100℃ to -130℃. This rapidly lowers the skin temperature to approximately 30℉. Nerves in the skin signal the central nervous system activating our “Fight or Flight” response.

Vasoconstriction, our first line of defense begins. The brain sends signals to the muscular and vascular system to constrict and contract. This in turn transports the body’s blood, nutrient and resources from the extremities to the core.

Now that the body has transported the blood to the core, it will enrich blood with oxygen, erythrocytes, enzymes and other beneficial nutrients during the hyper-production period. During this time toxins are also broken down and removed. As soon as the session ends somewhere between a minute and a half and three minutes determined by the user’s tolerance, the temperature rapidly rises and the perceived “threat” passes.

As soon as you exit the chamber, Vasodilation begins. During this time your body rapidly transports the endorphin, oxygen and nutrient rich blood back to skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments and soft tissue. This promotes healing and recovery for soreness, muscle fatigue, or injury.

What are the benefits of cryotherapy?

How often should I do cryotherapy?
Benefits can be obtained from one session due to the endorphin response. We recommend starting with at least 10 sessions as close together as possible to jump start the process. For maintenance, 2-3 sessions per week or as needed per recovery goals.
What do I wear during cryotherapy?

We will provide you with gloves, socks, slippers and a robe to wear while you enter the chamber. Once inside of the chamber you will remove the robe and hand to us. Dry underwear is highly recommended. Some women choose to wear their bra during their treatment, which is fine as long as there is no metal (underwire). You cannot have any jewelry on when entering the chamber, we have a place where you can put any rings, necklaces and watches while you are inside the chamber.

How long is the cryotherapy treatment?
A full treatment is 3 minutes long. If it becomes too much or uncomfortable you can stop the treatment at any time. Benefits are gained between 90 seconds and 3 minutes.
